Take a look through these old school porro prism binoculars from Orion! While roof prism binoculars are popular in today’s market, the porro prisms are a high-quality contender, solidly built with ED lenses and newly lighter weight. Orion’s 8 x 30 ED Waterproof Binocular are a modern take on the traditional porro prism, still giving you an elegant retro look and featuring cutting-edge optical and mechanical designs. Use these binoculars for a variety of applications, from birding and wildlife viewing to hiking and ball games.
The 8 x 30 ED utilizes Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) lenses, which eliminates chromatic aberrations. These are the false color that are sometimes seen through some lower-quality binoculars when light passes through the lenses. You will see that false color present in non-ED lenses is actually some of the red and / or blue end of the visible color spectrum slightly out of focus. The 8 x 30 ED will give you a sharp, vibrant, true-to-life color image of your target.
You’ll notice an impressively wide 8.1-degree field of view with the 8 x 30 ED, coupled with a comfortable 18.2 mm of eye relief, gives even eyeglass wearers the ability to easily see the entire field of view all at once. The baffled interiors will minimize glare and light bounce, therefore improving the optics and boosting the contrast of your image even more. These binoculars are fully waterproof and the insides are purged with nitrogen gas, removing any moisture and resisting any fogging in damp conditions.
The body of the 8 x 30 ED has a nice and compact BAK-4 porro prism design with a textured finish, ensuring a comfortable and solid grip. The magnesium alloy body is extremely durable yet lightweight, making these binoculars resistant to shock while only weighing 1.25 lbs! Included with the binoculars are a soft carry case, straps, and captive lens covers.
